Day 82 - Wednesday 16.02.11

Today was supposed to be a well earned rest day after 5 hard days of paddling. Local weather advice suggests that the next couple of days will be calm for a change, and then everything will turn to custard. Tim decides to take advantage of this and press on, delaying his rest until later in the week. Pretty brave move considering the amount of painkillers he is taking for his sore shoulders.

The weather advice was good......the first fine day in almost 4 weeks. By days end, another 54km had been covered, and Tim is safely on shore at the western end of Te Waewae Bay. From here on, there are many kilometres of wilderness to paddle past before he sees civilisation again.
