The weather was good & Tim got a good early start to put in some distance. He met up with the 6 surf life guards (except there were only 4) doing their circumnavigation. Check out their website at sixsurflifeguards.org.nz - there are some great photos of the encounter.

After a good 31 km stint, Tim pulled in at Bull Creek for lunch. Unfortunately, as the tide went out, the nice sandy beach ran out & a very rocky foreshore was exposed. This plus a large swell made it impossible for Tim to get out again....very frustrating considering the conditions offshore were great. Never fear, the locals were very friendly & a shower plus hot meal offered, so a good end to the day....Apparently Tim met a bloke who knows a bit about mooses in the south island????? we will try to find out more about this later.
