Day 22 - Saturday 18 December

The weather forecasts haven’t exactly been too accurate lately, so Tim decided to get an early start & keep pushing on until the going got too hard. Tim had befriended some kids at the Akitio camp, & they were down at the beach with their parents to see him off....not bad for 5.30am...how many people would do that when on holiday?? Good on you Parker family!

Again, in spite of the weather forecast, conditions were calm, & the going was good. A halfway break was made at Castle Point. Tim was impressed with the iconic lighthouse built in 1913. He had a short break & pressed on to Riversdale for an early afternoon finish after covering 61km.

Home for the night is a tent on the reserve by the Riversdale surf lifesaving club & dinner is fish & chips (fish caught  by Tim earlier in the day). Time to reflect on the 61km distance covered today & also the 837km distance covered in the 22 days since day 1.....a 38.1km daily average is not too bad (49.3km per paddling day).
