Hi everyone and welcome to my website. I am currently in a new phase of my expedition as I was not able to make it around Cape Reinga. I still aim to complete my trip just as soon as the weather allows me but I am currently back in Tauranga continuing with my training. To keep up to date with my latest news check out the category Tim’s Tales, which I run as a blog, and please feel free to post comments or ask questions. It’s been nearly 2 years of excitement, adventures, learning curves and there are still more to be had. So check in from time to time and join me for the short 'jog' from the Cape back down to Tauranga.

A little bit about my dream
I am was aiming to set the record of the first continuous solo circumnavigation of New Zealand by a kayak.
Obviously this expedition is not a something to be taken lightly and many have not considered it possible to complete in one trip. To be adequately prepared, I dedicated the entire 2010 year for training and preparation. I literally live kayaking and I love every minute of it.
With 15134 kilometres of coastline to circumnavigate, I have estimated that the total distance that I will have to kayak will be around 5500 kilometres.
Leaving from Tauranga on November 27 2010 and paddling clockwise around the country, I had hoped to be return in March. Unforetunately an atrocious summer held me up in many parts of the country and I only madedit to Ahipara at the bottom of 90mile beach. I had paddled appoximately 4700km in just over 6 months but with the onset of winter my dream was cut short. After 2 weeks of waiting for a weather break, it because obvious that one wasn't comming and I had to make the hard decision to return home where I can at least stay fit while paddling on rivers and in the harbour.
I hope to finish off my dream, possibly sometime in late July or August when we can get more settled winter weather. Ther is only about 800km to go and that sould only take me about 3 weeks...just an easy jog.
