Hi everyone and welcome to NZ Kayaker. This site can be used as your portal into the addictive world of kayaking and kayak fishing. I make no apologies that there is a heavy emphasis on the fishing (because I’m a fishing addict) but I love almost any sort of adventure in a kayak so feel free to contact me for info on everything from white-water to sea kayaking. I reckon I have the perfect job so I encourage you to spend some time checking out what I have to offer, and if you are ready to get amongst it just let me know.

Kayak Fishing

Kayak fishing is one of the fastest growing forms of fishing in New Zealand with beginners and experts alike moving over to the “wet side”. Not only do you get a great, low impact workout, but you have just as much chance of catching a fish as anyone else. While common fishing methods continue to produce common results, kayak fisho's are discovering that there are almost endless ways of catching fish and by using absolutely zero gas it is not only an extremely cheap way to catch fish, but it is also a an environmentally friendly way i.e. it’s just as good for the soul as it is for the stomach!    

Tours

If you are interested in doing something a little bit different or perhaps you have heard about the buzz that is kayak fishing, then I thoroughly recommend that you come along on one of my tours. I offer a range of tour options that are suitable for all levels of abilities and include everything that you will need to get out on the water. Tour sizes are kept small, from one to four people, as this helps to maximise not only your safety but your enjoyment...fishing should be about getting away from the crowds, not joining them! With an extensive knowledge of the Bay of Plenty region, I personally guarantee all tours will be an experience that you will never forget. About NZ Kayaker

NZ Kayaker is the product of many thousands of hours of kayaking experience and it is owned and operated by myself, Tim Taylor. Being a native of Tauranga, and a fanatical kayaker, means that I have gathered experience that is second to none when it comes to kayaking. I began my kayaking journey in the discipline of white-water slalom while at high school, competing extensively in NZ and proudly representing our country in the NZ Junior Team. This progressed into a love extreme white-water creaking while (which I still actively participate in whenever the rivers are flooding) and from there my obsession finally culminated with a solo circumnavigation of New Zealand in a sea kayak. The fishing side of things came about purely because I was spending so much time on the ocean training for my NZ circumnavigation and I figured I may as well have a line in the water. From there it went beyond an obsession and fortunately now it has become a lifestyle.
